Ancestors and Descendants: A Conversation with Kiesa Kay and River Dandelion

March 21 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

River 瑩瑩 Dandelion will read from the beautiful chapbook, Remembering (Y)our Light, illustrated by Singha Hon. River and Kiesa also will explore the deeper meaning of self-care through creativity. As River has stated, all too often, self-care is depicted as a moment between times of rapid productivity, which can lead to burnout. As creative artists determine to stay true to our ideals, recovering from harm, the very act of protecting and sustaining our strength becomes an act of resistance to those forces that would prefer our silence to our sustenance. Drawing on the teachings of Audre Lorde and Angela Davis, River deepens the understanding of healing work as integral to activism. Each participant will be encouraged and empowered in creation of sustainable self-care plans.
