Join our Cohort-Based Trainings
Restorative Justice Initiative is happy to announce two open cohort-based trainings for New Yorkers who wish to gain, broaden and sharpen their restorative facilitation skills and practice in a supportive community, regardless of organizational affiliation.
One cohort, Beginning Your Restorative Justice Journey with Daralee Vázquez García and Anooj Bhandari, is for those who are new to the restorative justice movement. This cohort is ideal for folks who have a basic understanding of the concept of restorative justice, and are seeking community and resources to grow and learn more. If you wish to apply for this cohort, we encourage you to have a specific community or shared-identity group within which you hope to practice.
The other cohort, Building Your Restorative Justice Journey with Nicole Lavonne Smith-Johnson and Suzanne Hitchman, is for cultural workers, community organizers, and movement builders, who are looking to integrate restorative approaches into their work, and to explore restorative practices as a response to harm in that context.
Both cohorts will begin this December at the Brooklyn Peace Center at 23 Marcus Garvey Boulevard in Bedford-Stuyvesant in-person. Then, from January to May, there will be monthly meetings (either virtual or in-person, according to the needs of the participants).
If you’d like to join one of these cohorts, please complete this application by Monday, November 25th. We look forward to learning more about you. If you have any questions, please contact Anooj Bhandari at anooj [at] restorativejustice [dot] nyc.
