In Case You Missed Our Seventh Anniversary Benefit …
On June 15, 2022 we gathered with our supporters and community partners at Project Farmhouse in Manhattan to celebrate seven years of Restorative Justice Initiative!
In a program emceed by Rev. Keyonn Wright-Sheppard we honored two inspiring leaders with whom we are grateful to be connected, Mariame Kaba, Founder & Director – Project NIA, Co-founder & Co-organizer – Survived & Punished, Co-founder & researcher – Interrupting Criminalization: Research in Action at Barnard Center for Research on Women and Susan Shah, Managing Director, Racial Justice at Trinity Church Wall Street Philanthropies.
The Head, Heart & Hands awards were presented by Danielle Sered, Executive Director of Common Justice and Donna Hylton, Founder and President of A Little Piece of Light.
More than 90 guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and wine while being entertained by the soulful sounds of DJ Delaceiba. Many also contributed to a participatory art experience, facilitated by Board Member, Ziedah Diata.
Attendees also had the opportunity to take home copies of books by Mariame Kaba in custom RJI tote bags!
