Launching Our Youth Advocacy Council

May 5, 2022 | Events and Learning Opportunities, News and Updates

Restorative Justice Initiative’s Youth Advocacy Council is looking for its founding members!

As we reflect on the importance of using our time here on earth in service of social change, we’re preparing to launch Restorative Justice Initiative’s Youth Advocacy Council. Our hope is to bring together a group of young, New York City residents who are excited to center the presence, participation, and leadership of youth within Restorative Justice through a year-long program focusing on the intersection of grassroots community building and advocacy.

Selected youth will go through trainings and workshops together throughout the summer of 2022, and participate in the advocacy council throughout the 2022-2023 school year, including the planning and development of community circles and programs, participation in citywide campaigns, and mentorship and participation within RJI.

Youth will be compensated on an hourly basis for their work at $15/hour and will be expected to commit an average of 5 hours a week. Applications are due on Friday, May 27th at 5pm, and are open to high school students or non-students age 15-21. BIPoC Youth and Youth who have been impacted by the Criminal Legal system are highly encouraged to apply.
